Albany Technical College, Albany GA | Ellis Ricket and Associates
Phase II of the Carlton Construction Academy was centered on an extensive overhaul of the site's industrial warehouse space. AES's Matthew Inman acted as the Civil EOR for this project.
The school’s desire was to have the newly renovated building serve as a teaching environment for various disciplines of construction.
The interior of the facility displays exposed conduit routing for all electrical systems, as well as exposed routing of HVAC piping and equipment to help construction students see real-time installation of their related industry elements.
The classrooms are visibly open for viewing from the corridor.
These renovations provided additional classroom space and lab upgrades for programs like Electrical Construction and Civil Engineering Technology.
Spatial requirements
This project added 28,633 square feet to the Construction Academy. The spatial requirements called for HVAC and architectural upgrades need to house a modern teaching facility. The facility's facade was modified to reflect the architectural design of other campus buildings that face Slappey Boulevard, one of Albany's major thoroughfares.
Client specifications
Some new spaces include: Air Conditioning Technology, Sustainable Renewable and Alternative Lab, General Classrooms, Civil Engineering and Outdoor Civil Lab, Engineering Graphic Classroom and Lab, and a Commercial Electrical Lab.
